The design of the bund is different from those

in other far eastern cities in that it is lined along the water edge with transit sheds and godowns which are continuous for long distances, and have their roofs developed with roof gardens, tea houses, open air theatres and other serve as high-level promenade appropriate uses, and can also overlooking the activities of the water front, much like the promenade in Antwerp, Belgium. In the rear of these godowns is a wide thoroughfare with a central strip planted with graceful bamboo and other trees, and shrubs. This serves both as an evening promenade area like those in many Spanish and So th American cities and as a screen between the godowns and the hotels, banks, department stores, apartment houses, and other large buildings on

the landward side of this Boulevard.

There

Besides the Kowloon Railroad which runs generally

east and west about two miles back from the water front, the Hankow line will approach the water front at the westerly end of the development from a north westerly direction. This line is to run the full length of the water front, about 500 to 1,000 feet from the river. is also a loop which runs from the bund back nearly north through the easterly end of the development to a line close to and parallel with the Kowloon line, and connects with the north-westerly approach line well to the west of the
